garden party at sewing seeds.

i would definitely be attending this were it not for the fact that we're heading home to PA this weekend for father's day, but please go out and support TAC and their natural dye CSA at their first garden party. sip some lemonade amongst some pretty dyestuff in bloom this saturday (6/16) from 3 to 7, at 344 bergen st between 3rd and 4th. i've been meaning to go on one of their volunteer weekends to see the new garden and to volunteer, so i'm bummed that i'll miss this but it should be an amazing time for those of you that can attend! more details here.

sewing seeds fundraiser.

if i didn't already have plans to attend the pete & pete reunion tonight, i would totally be here in a heartbeat.  what a great idea to have a natural dyes CSA, especially since living in NYC i'd be hard pressed to go out and source my own slightly more exotic dyes outside of onion skins and coffee; find more information on sewing seeds here.  please go and support a great idea, if not just to see what goodies shabd, ilana kohn, baggu and erin considine have to auction.  can't wait to see what the folks at TAC have in store!

dye & knit 101.

image courtesy of vickie howell via textile arts center

textile arts center just opened up a dye & knit 101 and spin & dye class in march at both their brooklyn and manhattan locations - go sign up, quick!  last i checked there were still a number of spots open in both classes.  i've been wanting to learn how to really knit for some time (i've been just barely scraping by), and since getting into the natural dyeing book chris got me for christmas, this class would be perfect.  the dye & knit will be taught by owyn ruck, co-founder of TAC and the spin & dye is being taught by addison walz.
