on attitudes.

casually browsing the sartorialist just now, i came across a quote from scott schuman in speaking about anna dello russo i couldn't help but share:

"Anna lacks the blasé gene, which is refreshing for a fashion icon."

simple words (that easily extend beyond the world of fashion), but words to live by.

"It’s partly that ineffable combination of dirtiness and innocence: they’re sexy, but they’re not sexual. They’re also not generically beautiful. God knows they’re hot enough, but they look interesting too. Intelligent. Slightly askew. You don’t just want to look at them or sleep with them; you want to talk to them."

overheard: a couple standing in line at crate & barrel, guy complaining about the glass bowl full of fake fruit he’s holding. girl shoots him a dirty look after his remark.

I saw this show the other day where this fat guy was in an accident and a piece of wood hit him, but didn’t hit any vital organs, and he said that his fat saved him. I thought no, if he wasn’t fat, it would’ve missed him altogether!

…Emma (Watson) who came ahead in the bank, bringing in $753.7 million last year while Daniel (Radcliffe) only brought in $558 million.

Perez Hilton, on the highest grossing two lead actors of the decade (as entered in Guinness Book of World Records), Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe of the Harry Potter franchise.

I wouldn’t even know what to do with those amounts of money, let alone if I grossed that much in one year by the time I was 18.

He ordered a cup of coffee, slowly spooned sugar into it, tasted it (a pleasure that had been forbidden him in the clinic), and thought, while he stroked the cat’s black fur, that this contact was illusory, that he and the cat were separated as though by a pane of glass, because man lives in time, in successiveness, while the magical animal lives in the present, in the eternity of the instant.

…inability to enjoy other’s company sincerely. He hates most man and sees the evil in everyone, a self-loathing complex that causes his brash decisions to steadily become more volatile.

with americans, it’s hard to find one who truly goes against the tide, because americans are much more conformist than italians. today the italian woman dresses worse than the american woman, but three out of a hundred italian women dress really wonderfully. the americans are dressed well but all look the same.
